BuddyBuddy exists to help you discover activities and meet people who share your interests. These guidelines define how we expect everyone to behave - both on the app and when meeting in person.

Breaking these rules can result in content removal, warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination depending on severity.

The Basics

Honesty matters. Your profile should represent the real you - your actual name (or a nickname you genuinely use), your real photos, and accurate information about yourself.

Respect is non-negotiable. Everyone deserves to feel welcome here regardless of their background, identity, or beliefs. Discrimination, hate speech, harassment, and bullying have no place in our community.

Follow through on commitments. When you say you’ll be somewhere, be there. Other people are counting on you.

Your Profile

Your profile is how others get to know you. Keep it authentic and appropriate:

  • Use photos that actually show you - not someone else, not a celebrity, not your pet
  • Don’t include contact details like phone numbers, email, or physical addresses in your bio
  • Represent yourself accurately - misleading others about who you are undermines trust

Conversations

Good communication makes for better experiences:

  • Keep it relevant - generic mass messages to lots of users aren’t welcome here
  • Respect boundaries - if someone isn’t interested, accept it gracefully
  • Never send explicit or sexual content
  • Don’t ask for (or share) financial information - we’ll never ask for payment details, and neither should anyone else
  • Respect people’s privacy - don’t share someone else’s personal information without permission

Hosting & Joining Activities

If You’re Hosting

  • Be clear about the details: where, when, what to expect, and any costs involved
  • Set expectations about the social vibe
  • Respond to requests within a reasonable time
  • Give people advance notice if you need to cancel

If You’re Joining

  • Read the activity description thoroughly before requesting to join
  • Ask questions if anything’s unclear
  • Arrive when you said you would (or let people know if you’re delayed)
  • Each person covers their own costs - we don’t handle payments between users

Meeting in Person

Real-world meetups are the heart of BuddyBuddy. Stay smart about it:

  • Choose public locations, particularly for first-time meetings
  • Tell someone you trust about your plans
  • Listen to your gut - if something feels wrong, leave
  • BuddyBuddy connects you with activities and people, but you’re responsible for your own safety

Zero Tolerance

Some things will get you removed immediately:

Age requirement: You must be 18 or older. No exceptions.

Violence and threats: Physical aggression, intimidation, stalking, or threatening behavior of any kind.

Sexual misconduct: Non-consensual behavior, harassment, or assault.

Illegal activity: Drug dealing, fraud, theft, or anything else that breaks the law.

Scams: Attempting to deceive others for money, goods, or any other benefit.

Commercial use: BuddyBuddy isn’t for selling products, promoting businesses, or recruiting.

Harmful content: Anything promoting self-harm, violence, or dangerous behavior.

System abuse: Bots, fake accounts, scrapers, or attempts to bypass restrictions.

Staying Safe Online

Think before you share:

  • Don’t post your exact address or detailed travel schedules
  • Keep early conversations on BuddyBuddy until you’re comfortable sharing other contact info
  • Adjust your privacy settings to control what others can see

When Things Go Wrong

Emergencies: Contact local emergency services immediately.

Uncomfortable interactions: You can block anyone from their profile. Once blocked, they can’t contact you, see your profile, or find your activities.

Guideline violations: Use the in-app report function. We review every report and act accordingly.

Misuse of safety features: Weaponizing the block or report functions - like making false reports or using blocking to harass someone - is itself a violation.

A Word About Suggestions

BuddyBuddy may recommend activities based on your preferences and location. These are automated suggestions that may not always be perfectly accurate. Always check details before committing to anything.
